UNIOGBIS Promotes Two-day Talks on Stability

The United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Guinea-Bissau-UNIOGBIS- supports and organizes the meeting with the collaboration of civil society organizations and international facilitators. The talks will bring together about 200 participants, including representatives of National Assembly, Presidency of the Republic, Government, the Judiciary, the military, traditional and religious leaders, civil society and international partners.

Participants will discuss possible consultation and dialogue mechanisms, confidence generating strategies to facilitate dialogue and national reconciliation as well as follow-up schemes and national ownership.

Since the beginning of this legislature, the issue of political and governance stability has been mentioned by many national and international stakeholders and by civil society.

Consequently, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Miguel Trovoada, assigned a UNIOGBIS team the task to start consultations with national authorities, political parties, civil society, trade unions, religious and intellectual leaders on the opportunity of organizing two-day talks on stability and areas to address.
