UN Peacebuilding Commission confident that elections will take place on November 24
The PBC-GB Chair visited Guinea-Bissau on 23 and 24 October to observe UN preparations and support for the presidential elections and to seek to maintain international interest in the country beyond the elections.
The visit is part of the ongoing commitment between the Peacebuilding Commission and Guinea-Bissau. The President of the Guinea-Bissau Configuration becomes familiar with the latest political and security developments in the country and supports preparations for peaceful and inclusive presidential elections.
In addition, Ambassador Mauro Vieira tried to gather information to see how the Peacebuilding Commission can support Guinea-Bissau in the implementation of its development agenda, as well as in the reforms described in the post-election Conakry Agreement.
