UNDP Guinea-Bissau and Brazil's Electoral Supreme Court signed electoral memorandum

11 July 2011 - The Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General and UNDP Resident Representative in Guinea-Bissau, Gana Fofang and the President of Brazil's Electoral Supreme Court today signed in Lisbon a memorandum of understanding within the framework of the Project in Support of the Electoral Cycles in the PALOP and Timor Leste (Pro-PAOLP/TL).

 

The document was signed in the Portuguese Speaking Countries Community (CPLP) HQ, during a meeting focused on electoral issues and attended by CPLP Executive Secretary, Domingos Simões Pereira and President of Guinea-Bissau National electoral Commission, Desejado Lima da Costa. The memorandum aims at reinforcing electoral assistance cooperation, namely through dissemination of electoral management tools and methodologies, capacity building, among others.

The Pro PALOP/TL is a Euro 6.1 million project funded by the European Union and aimed at providing full electoral cycle activity support in favor Portuguese speaking countries in Africa (PALOP - Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Sao Tome and Principe) and Timor-Leste.
