SRSG met with the African Union Special Representative to Guinea-Bissau

5 October 2010 - Guinea-Bissau political and military situation was at the center of a meeting on Tuesday in Bissau, between the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General and his African Union counterpart.

 

SRSG Joseph Mutaboba and the AU top official Sebastião Isata also analyzed the country's Security Sector Reform (SSR) process.

Sebastião Isata is undertaking his first trip to Guinea-Bissau since his appointment as Special Representative of the African organization to the country. He is expected to meet with Guinea-Bissau authorities, political parties and civil society representatives.

The UN mission in Guinea-Bissau 2010 mandate states that cooperation should be implemented with the AU, ECOWAS, CPLP, the European Union (EU) and other partners to contribute to the stabilization of Guinea-Bissau.
