6 January 2010 - A Government delegation of six led by Ms. Hadja Satu Camara, Minister of Interior of Guinea-Bissau, on Tuesday 5 January 2010, met with Rear Admiral José Américo Bubo Na Tchuto at the United Nations compound in Bissau under the facilitation of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Mr. Joseph Mutaboba.

On 28 December 2009, former Rear Admiral José Américo Bubo Na Tchuto entered United Nations premises in Bissau unannounced and requested protection, stating that he was afraid for his life.

The atmosphere at the dialogue yesterday was very cordial.

The United Nations welcome this development, which will proceed today, and remain steadfastly ready to facilitate additional dialogue that will pave the way for Rear Admiral Na Tchuto to voluntarily leave the UN compound peacefully.
