Closure of UNIOGBIS

The United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Guinea‑Bissau (UNIOGBIS) was established on 26 June 2009. Its mandate ended on 31 December 2020, subsumed to the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS).

SRSG attends ECOWAS meeting on Guinea-Bissau SSR

24 November 2010 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General to Guinea-Bissau, Joseph Mutaboba, today attends in Abuja an ECOWAS ministerial meeting focused on the Security Sector Reform (SSR) in Guinea-Bissau.

The 28th Meeting of Mediation and Security Council at Ministerial Level will discuss, among others, the recommendations of the Joint Meeting of the ECOWAS Committee of Chiefs of Defence Staff and Committee of Chiefs of Security on fast tracking the implementation of Guinea-Bissau SSR process.

Mutaboba is expected to hold consultations on Guinea-Bissau with West African actors.
