Closure of UNIOGBIS

The United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Guinea‑Bissau (UNIOGBIS) was established on 26 June 2009. Its mandate ended on 31 December 2020, subsumed to the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS).

UNIOGBIS statement on Rear Admiral Bubo Na Tchuto departure’s from the UN premises

1 April 2010 - Rear Admiral Bubo Na Tchuto today voluntarily left the UN premises in Bissau where he has been for the past 94 days.

 

Bubo Na Tchuto left the premises shortly before 11h30.

Before his departure, the Rear Admiral signed a document in which he stated that he was leaving the building of his own and peacefully, and he would not participate in any act that could jeopardize people's life or belongings.

 

Bubo Na Tchuto entered the UN premises on 28 December 2009, coming from Gambia.
