The International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), on 17 June, will hold an event at the French Cultural Center in Bissau to mark the conclusion of their two projects on protection of minors and prevention of trafficking in persons.
The event will show-case the impact of the projects in the country and will include a photographic and video exhibition on protection, prevention and combating trafficking in human beings.
Improving awareness about trafficking in children and strengthening victims’ protection in Guinea-Bissau and Improving the Criminal Justice System response to trafficking in persons and strengthening victims’ protection in Guinea-Bissau, are the focus of the two projects implemented in coordination by the IOM and UNODC, funded by the United States of America Department of State.
The projects aimed at supporting the Government of Guinea-Bissau in combating trafficking in human beings, especially women and children, by strengthening their capacities for prevention, identification, investigation and protection of trafficking victims.
The closing event will be attended by His Excellency Mr. Tulinabo Mushingi, Ambassador of the United States of America to Guinea-Bissau, by the Government Representative, and the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and head of UNIOGBIS ad interim and other high-level members of the diplomatic corps represented in Guinea Bissau and of state institutions.
