This is a first and fundamental step towards restoring constitutional order and allowing for the resumption of full-fledged cooperation with the international community. The Configuration also reiterates its acknowledgement of the key role played by the UN and Guinea-Bissau's main international partners that contributed to the holding of the first round of elections, as well as by all partners who have contributed with international observers.

The Guinea-Bissau Configuration of the Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) reiterates the importance of a free electoral campaign, without threats and intimidations, and that the second round of presidential elections on 18 May be concluded in a peaceful and fair manner, and that the results be respected, so as to allow for the formation of a legitimate democratic Government in a stable environment.

The Configuration calls on all parties in Guinea-Bissau to stay the course of democracy and respect the will of the people. The Guinea-Bissau Configuration of the Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) reaffirms its intention to remain engaged throughout the electoral process and in close consultation with UNIOGBIS to monitor the situation on the ground.
