UNIOGBIS hosts a press conference on January 23^rd, Thursday, from 12:30-13:30

The Chair of the Guinea-Bissau Configuration of the Peacebuilding Commission (PBC), Ambassador António de Aguiar Patriota, and the Assistant of the Secretary General, Ms. Judy Cheng-Hopkins are visiting the country for a week, from January 20^th, at the invitation of the Special Representative of the Secretary General, José Ramos-Horta.

Ambassador António Patriota and ASG Ms. Judy Cheng Hopkins are expected to meet with the national authorities, including the leadership of the Armed Forces.

The delegation will also hold meetings with the UN Strategic Policy Group (SPG), the National Commission for Planning and Strategic Coordination, ECOWAS and the European Union.

The programme includes a visit to the Technical Office for the Support of the Electoral Process (GTAPE) and National Elections Commission (CNE), and a meeting with the Timorese Secretary of State for Administrative Decentralization and head of the Mission for the Support of the Register Electoral Process in Guinea-Bissau, Mr.Tomás Cabral.

Finally, Ambassador António Patriota and Ms.Judy Cheng-Hopkins will meet with the woman’s group involved in the implementation of PBF/IRF project on Women’s Economic Empowerment and the Human Rights Defenders’ Network.

UNIOGBIS will host a press conference on January 23^rd, Thursday, from 12:30-13:30, followed by visits to TCU and to the Police Training Center João Landim.
