Closure of UNIOGBIS

The United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Guinea‑Bissau (UNIOGBIS) was established on 26 June 2009. Its mandate ended on 31 December 2020, subsumed to the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS).

UNIOGBIS trains law enforcement and National Guard officers in combatting drug trafficking

the United Nations Integrated Office for Peacebuilding in Guinea-Bissau, UNIOGBIS, through its Combatting Drug Trafficking and Organized Crime component (CDTOC), conducted a criminal investigation training seminar in Santo Domingo for 10 agents of the defense and security forces of the Cacheu region.

According to Muammar Baldé, United Nations official, this seminar aims at training border patrols in criminal investigation techniques, cross-border and transactional crimes, and other drug-related crimes.Participating in the training were agents assigned to the Public Order Police (POP) and the National Guard (GN), operating on the border between Guinea-Bissau and Senegal.
