Closure of UNIOGBIS

The United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Guinea‑Bissau (UNIOGBIS) was established on 26 June 2009. Its mandate ended on 31 December 2020, subsumed to the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS).

SRSG in Guinea-Bissau attends ECOWAS summits

30 June 2010 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Guinea-Bissau, Joseph Mutaboba, today travelled to Sal, Cape Verde, to attend the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) summits.

 

From 30 June to 3 July, Sal will host ECOWAS council of ministers, the Head of States and Government summit and finally the first ECOWAS-Brazil summit attended by Brazilian president Lula da Silva.

The situation in the region, including in Guinea-Bissau and Guinea will be discussed by ECOWAS leaders.
