Closure of UNIOGBIS

The United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Guinea‑Bissau (UNIOGBIS) was established on 26 June 2009. Its mandate ended on 31 December 2020, subsumed to the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS).

Dakar hosts sixth meeting of UN Human Rights heads of sections in West Africa

15 March 2011 - The United Nations Office for West Africa (UNOWA) will host the sixth meeting of heads of United Nations Human Rights Offices in West Africa in Dakar, Senegal, from 16 to 17 March 2011.

The meeting will review the human rights situation in West Africa. It will also formulate recommendations for an enhanced contribution of the United Nations to the protection and promotion of human rights including during and after electoral processes; and to the fight against impunity.
The meeting will be attended by heads of United Nations Human Rights in Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Niger, Sierra Leone, Togo, as well as senior staff from the regional office and headquarters of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva, and UNWOMEN and the ECOWAS Court of Justice.
