Closure of UNIOGBIS

The United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Guinea‑Bissau (UNIOGBIS) was established on 26 June 2009. Its mandate ended on 31 December 2020, subsumed to the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS).

SRSG's Condolences Letter to the President of the Republic

28 September 2014- The Special Representative of the UN SG for Guinea-Bissau (SRSG) today extended his condolences to the President of the Republic after the dealy car explosion over a land mine.Your Excellency

It is with deep regret that I learned of the tragic accident that occurred late last Friday, between the towns of Bissorã and Encheia, that fatally killed more than two dozen people, besides several wounded.

In this moment of pain and consternation, I ask You, Mr. President, to accept, in my name and in the name of the United Nations family in Guinea-Bissau, the expression of my deepest condolences to You, to the bereaved families and to all the people of Guinea-Bissau.
