Closure of UNIOGBIS

The United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Guinea‑Bissau (UNIOGBIS) was established on 26 June 2009. Its mandate ended on 31 December 2020, subsumed to the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS).

International partners will continue to support Guinea-Bissau

1 November 2012 - The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretariat General in Guinea-Bissau (SRSG), Joseph Mutaboba, chaired today at UNIOGBIS, a meeting of international partners over the current situation in the country.

In a joint statement issued later on, the international partners of Guinea-Bissau "agreed to pursue their support for national efforts towards genuine and inclusive dialogue for a political and security environment conducive to a peaceful transitional process that should end with the next elections and mark the return to constitutional order, within the framework of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2048 (2012)".
