June 22, 2007 - Deputy Secretary-General visits Guinea-Bissau

 

Bissau - The Deputy Secretary-General Dr. Asha-Rose Migiro (Tanzania) arrives in Bissau Friday, June 29, at 9 a.m, for a 36-hour visit.

During her stay, Dr. Migiro will meet President João Bernardo Vieira, President of National Assembly Francisco Benante, President of the Supreme Court Maria do Céu Monteiro, Prime Minister Martinho NDafá Cabi, Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria de Conceição Nobre Cabral, parliamentary leaders, women parliamentarians and civil society groups.

On Saturday, the Deputy Secretary-General visits the CIDA/ALTERNAG HIV/AIDS Counseling and Treatment Centre, as well as the offices of the National Mine Action Coordination Commission (CAAMI) and the mine action project at Paiol de Brá.

Dr. Migiro leaves Bissau Saturday in the afternoon.
