Guinea-Bissau human rights defenders meet to devise strategy

The Network of Human Rights Defenders of Guinea-Bissau (RDDH-GB) will hold its first strategic retreat on April 20 and 21, 2018 at Casa dos Direitos, in Bissau old centre.

During the two days of work, 40 human rights activists from Bissau and regions will meet to define the network's strategic vision, priorities and action plan for the coming years.

The initiative aims to align the interventions of the Network of Human Rights Defenders with national priorities to contribute to the strengthening of the national system for the protection of human rights and human rights defenders in light of the UN General Assembly Declaration on Human Rights Defenders. Human Rights, adopted on 9 December 1998.

The group of activists, members of the network, includes men, women, youth, people with disabilities, lawyers, trade unionists and journalists.

The Meeting will also serve to share information, good practices and comparative experiences in the field of protection of human rights defenders at the international and sub regional levels.

This activity is supported by the United Nations Integrated Office for Peacebuilding in Guinea-Bissau (UNIOGBIS).
