Closure of UNIOGBIS

The United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Guinea-Bissau (UNIOGBIS) completed its Security Council mandate on 31 December 2020

Resolutions

18 May 2012

  • Resolution 2048 - This resolution imposed travel bans on coup leaders and set up a new sanctions committee.

21 Dec 2011

  • Resolution 2030 - This resolution renewed the mandate of UNIOGBIS until 28 February 2013.

23 Nov 2010

  • Resolution 1949 - This resolution renewed the mandate of UNIOGBIS until 31 December 2011.

26 Jun 2009

  • Resolution 1876 - The Council extended the mandate of UNOGBIS until 31 December and requested the SG to establish a UN Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Guinea-Bissau (UNIOGBIS) to succeed UNOGBIS for an initial period of 12 months after that.

22 Dec 2004

  • Resolution 1580 - Extended the mandate of the UN Peacebuilding Support Office in Guinea-Bissau, the Council also called on the Country’s National Assembly to take into account principles of justice and fight against impunity when considering amnesties.

06 Apr 1999

  • Resolution 1233 - This resolution supported the decision of the Secretary-General to establish the UN Peacebuilding Support Office in Guinea-Bissau.

21 Dec 1998

  • Resolution 1216 - This resolution welcomed and approved the mandate of an ECOWAS interposition force in support of a peace agreement in Guinea-Bissau.

12 Aug 1974

  • Resolution 356 - This resolution recommended Guinea-Bissau for UN membership.
