UN Women and UNDP announces small grants projects for peacebuilding
UN Women and UNDP will report on Monday, July 22, 2019 at a dissemination ceremony to be held in the UNIOGBIS training room at 10:00 a.m., the 26 approved projects to receive small grants, through the Peacebuilding Fund in Guinea-Bissau.
Under the UN Women Project: Support for the Political Participation of Women and Youth in Promoting Peace and Development in Guinea-Bissau and the UNDP project: Mobilizing Youth and Adolescents to act as leaders in the peacebuilding process, two calls for peace-building proposals were launched on May 1, 2019.
The deadline for receipt of applications was May 31, 2019, following three evaluation phases:
Phase 1: Initial screening of applications that did not meet the prerequisites;
Phase 2: Technical and financial analysis of proposals;
Phase 3: High Committee for the validation of proposals.
The total of 92 proposals were received and 26 approved, where 14 will be managed by UN Women in partnership with Plan International and 12 will be managed by UNDP in partnership with SWISSAID.
The main objective is to build leadership skills in peacebuilding for women and young leaders so that they can overcome obstacles to their full participation in the political life of Guinea-Bissau.
Two members of each approved project will participate in an induction workshop that will be held between July and August in order to strengthen project management, budget and follow-up capacity.
